"The Case for Doing Nothing" by Olga Mecking (NY Times, 2019-04-29) says that stress goes down and creativity rises when one stops doing and practices being:
- Make time for doing nothing, and do it with purpose – ... taking a break is part of working ...
- Resist the culture of busyness – ... "Be unapologetic about taking breaks or holidays ... think of [them] not as a sign of laziness but as an important life skill." ...
- Manage your expectations – ... it takes time to get used to deliberately doing nothing; be patient ...
- Reorganize your environment – ... put devices out of reach, and point furniture away from distractions ...
- Think outside of the box – ... go to the park, etc. ...
... and, if one goes further and really lets go of Goals (like less stress and more creativity) – très Zen, eh?!
